The newest project under developmental at GriffinOT is our online course – Sensory Processing – What’s the Fuss? The aim of the online sensory processing training is to explain why everyone must give a fuss about sensory processing disorder! We know that it’s often difficult to take time out or travel to courses, which is why we have taken our training online. The online sensory processing training course content is similar to our on-site sensory processing training but allows you to study at in your own time and at your own pace at home or work. We hope that this will offer flexibility for parents and teachers to access the training. The GriffinOT website resources are designed to complement the training.
What Does The Online Sensory Processing Training Cover?
The online Sensory Processing Disorder training is designed not just to help you understand what Sensory Processing Disorder is, but how sensory modulation affects children day to day. The training teaches you why the senses are important for children’s learning and how they affect children’s behaviour and interactions. We also provide ideas on how to help support children’s sensory processing at home and school.

Module 1 – Introduction to Sensory Processing & Modulation – What’s the Fuss?
Module 2 – What is sensory input and why is sensory input important?
Module 3 –What is arousal and what affects our arousal?
Modules 4 – 6 – An introduction to the seven senses.
Module 7 – How the brain integrates sensory input.
Module 8 – What is sensory modulation?
Modules 9 – 10 – The sensory modulation patterns including sensory sensitivity and sensory seeking.
Modules 11 – 13 – How to help children with Sensory Processing Disorder.
Module 14 – Review and farewell.
Who Is The Online Sensory Processing Disorder Training Course Designed For?
Parents of children with Sensory Processing Disorder or Autism.
Teachers working with children who have Sensory Processing Disorder or Autism.
Health Professionals with limited or no knowledge about Sensory Processing Disorder. This would include GPs, social workers, physiotherapists, psychologists and nurses wanting an introduction to Sensory Processing Disorder / Sensory Integration.
How Long Is The Course?
It is expected the course will take 5-7 hours to complete. The core video content is 3.5 hours, with the average length of individual videos being 15 minutes. There are quizzes to complete for 12 modules and some modules include extra readings and discussions. In addition, there are optional resources and activities which could take up to an additional 3 hours to complete.
How Long Do I Have To Access The Course?
Once you have signed up you have three months to complete the course. During this time you can access the video content as often as you like. Many of the additional resources can be accessed after the three months as they are open source. There are also handouts and extra information for you to download and keep.
How much does the Online Sensory Processing Training cost?
The cost of the course is £50 for three months access.
